A call at 5pm to scan on a london location at 6.30pm! The head scan neededed a moderate level of detail as the final file would be used as a starting point for a new sculpture.
3D Scanning
The scan worked out perfectly. The hairline gave a witness line to work from when rebuilding the hair in post-processing. Colour data was captured in case there was need for it, and the final raw scan data was ready for cleanup and post-processing.
3D Scan Detail & Integrity of Information
Because the 3D scanner captures data in such high resolution, the project is given the best opportunity to flourish. Point accuracy and resolution up to 0.1mm.
Sculpting the Hair
The back of the head was quickly rebuilt, carefully leaving the visible hairline. Then using countless reference photos and the existing hairline, the hair was built as a separate object - making it infinitely adaptable and modifiable.
Final 3D File
From 3D scan to cleaned, then retopologised mesh, rebuilt hair and exported files within 48hrs. 3Dscanned files can be used for 3D printing, CNC, animation, prototype designing, reverse engineering, restoration and heritage amongst other things! (see our list of uses here).
